ARTIST’S BIO: LAUREN KURTZ
After training as a professional makeup artist for television and film at Toronto’s own Complections International Makeup School, Lauren had worked the spectrum of traditional makeup arts from the cosmetics counter to the film set. The challenge of working with the high definition of the camera’s lens and the even more critical lens of the naked eye was met by Lauren’s naturally gentle yet perfecting touch with makeup. Her work led to her interest in the progress of Permanent Cosmetics, often seen as a flamboyant, garish, and heavy-handed craft, but a practice that she knew could look as elegant and refined as the traditional makeup she expertly applied each day. Trained by an international leader in the field, Lauren now applies a subtle style of Permanent Cosmetics that serves the same purpose as conventional, everyday makeup: to enhance each individual’s own natural beauty.
Lauren is a member of the Society of Permanent Cosmetic Professionals and complies with their strict code of ethics. She has worked alongside renowned cosmetic plastic surgeon Dr. Stephen Mulholland at SpaMedica from 2006 to 2010; with Ali Adibfar at his own Elements Wellness and Medispa; with Dr. Atul Kesarwani at his mid-town Cosmedical clinic; and with Toronto's facialist guru, Paula Stark.
